8th Annual Ballin On The Bayou RULES: 

Admission: There will be a daily admission charge for All spectators over the age of 5.

Friday -$10

Saturday - $15

Sunday - $15 

Coaches : Each Team will Be Allowed 2 Coaches. Coaches will receive 2 Wristbands per Team. Coaches must Keep wristbands all weekend(if a coach loses his wristband they must pay an entry fee! All Players participating in the tournament must arrive in full uniform as this will serve as entry into the tournament. Any player, coach or spectator caught aiding others into the tournament without paying the door admission will cause their team to be disqualified from the duration of the event.

 

Scheduling

All teams are responsible for arriving at the tournament facility (30) minutes prior to their scheduled game time. In the event game times are running ahead, the next game will start before scheduled time. The tournament director has final decision making authority on all matters including, but not limited to forfeits. 

Rosters:

In order to promote Fair Play. Roster forms will be filled out before a teams first game.(names and numbers) Players not on the pool play roster will not be allowed to play during bracket play! A maximum of 15 players is allowed on each Team! You will only do this one time and the scoretable will take care of getting lineups in the scorebook. 

Code Of Conduct:  Zero Tolerance!!!!!

No Fighting Rule - Any player, coach, or spectator involved in a physical altercation of any kind , on or off the court will be ejected from the facility. In the event that a player leaves the bench and participates in any fashion in an altercation/fight that player will be ejected from the tournament.A technical foul will be issued to any teams Coaches, parents, or fans who argue with or insult any gaming official. If a coach, or spectator is ejected from the game, they must leave and will not be allowed to return for the duration of the event. After a warning is given, gaming officials have the right to eject any person from the facility at their discretion. Anyone ejected will not receive a refund!




Game Play

All games will be played on the 10-foot height regulation basketball goal.

Clock Rules

4th(10u) - 8th(14u)

  6 Minute quarters regulation stop clock Rules.

9TH(15U) - 10TH(16U)

7 minute quarters regulation stop clock rules

 

Halftime

3 minute warm up time before each game(subject to change if necessary)

3 minute halftimes

***Each team is responsible for their own warm up basketballs. 

Ball size

Home Team Will Provide Ball

5th(11u)-6th(12u) will use the 28.5 size gameball (official women’s size ball)

7th(13u)-Up will use the 29.5 size gameball (official men’s size ball)

Uniforms

When reading team is listed first, or on top is the home team and will wear light colors. However teams should always bring both sets of uniforms to the gym.



Fouls & Free Throws Shooting Bonus

A player fouls out on his 5th foul. 

2-shot bonus: 5 fouls per quarter (fouls reset each quarter)

Technical Fouls

The opposing team is awarded two free throws plus possession of the ball. Two technical fouls and/or flagrant fouls is an automatic ejection from the game. Two direct technical fouls during a game on a player, coach or team representative will result in their disqualification for the next game of the tournament. Fighting and unsportsmanlike conduct can be more than one game and is at the discretion of the tournament director

Timeouts

All teams will have 4 timeouts per game. 4(30 seconds) 

Overtime

overtime is two (2) minute stop clock. Each team will have one (1) 30 second timeout with no carry-overs. Second overtime will be sudden death - first team to score. no timeouts for second overtime

Delay of Game 

First violation shall result in a warning. Any additional violations shall result in a technical foul being awarded.






Bench Rule

Only coaches and players listed in the tournament roster for a given team are allowed on the bench for that team during the game. If a referee or tournament director asks that an individual leave the bench and/or area that individual does not, a technical foul will be awarded. If the individual still refuses to leave the game will be stopped, and the tournament director can award a forfeit.

 

No Dunking

There is absolutely NO DUNKING DURING WARMUPS. Officials will issue you a technical foul.

 

Player Participation

A player can only play on one team in his age group for the entire event. Players are allowed to play up with a team within the same organization.(i.e. a 15u player playing on a 16u team) If any player is found participating on multiple teams. ALL games that player has participated in will result in a forfeit.

 

The Acadiana Redhawks intent is to provide a competitive, Top notch, and most importantly fair event. We ask that all coaches and teams be honest, and all Coaches, Players, spectators be respectful as this is for the kids and your team will be held accountable. Concessions will be available, so NO OUTSIDE FOOD will be allowed in Gyms. NO MUSICAL DEVICES ALLOWED in gyms.

Proof of Age

All coaches must be able to provide any player’s original state identification card or birth certificate and report card if requested by tournament officials. Protests Cost 100$ from the protesting team(refundable if your challenge is upheld) In the event of a protest absence of proof of age for any player shall result in that player not being allowed to participate.

 

2023 BATTLE IN ACADIANA  ELIGIBILITY RULES:

5th Grade: A player must be in the 5th grade or under as of October 1, 2023 and cannot turn 13 prior to September 1, 2024

6th Grade: A player must be in the 6th grade or under as of October 1, 2023 and cannot turn 14 prior to September 1, 2024

7th Grade: A player must be in the 7th grade or under as of October 1, 2023 and cannot turn 15 prior to September 1, 2024

8th Grade: A player must be in the 8th grade or under as of October 1, 2023 and cannot turn 16 prior to September 1, 2024

9th Grade: A player must be in the 9th grade or under as of October 1, 2023 and cannot turn 17 prior to September 1, 2024

JV 10TH - An athlete must be in the 10TH  grade or below for the 2023-24 school year and cannot turn 18 prior to September 1, 2024.
